Summer is comming up for me, and I won’t be working in my intended industry, so I decided to take up a programming project over the summer and make some kind of app. I thought
I’d ask y’all for ideas. Hopefully not anything that would require a sophisticated
graphic interface, since I’m not very good with those.
Hit me with your million dollar ideas Oppo!

An app that, when you open it, randomly selects a sub $1000 car on Kijiji and sends an “I’m interested!” email.

How about an app that’s like Rate My Poo, only it’s Rate My Ride. Scale of 1 to 10. No commenting section, because we already have Oppo.

I wish Oppo had a "signature" for each member so that we can remind each other what cars we own. Coz most of the posts are shitposts :)

This is doable.

I’d suggest a filter for manual to supplant this idea.

Though your username alone I would conclude you own a Mini and some sort of American truck.
Before my oppo days my handle used to be The Guy Who Has a Jeep, so that’s pretty self explanatory

Make an app that does the “baby Mario crying sound” and locks your phone indefinitely

Have an app that goes all Picasso on the posts a different way every time you open the app. You know, artistic Kinja.

Make an oppo specific kinja client. No deadspin, no splinter, no main jalopnik. It goes to Oppo and stays in oppo.

How about an app that, whenever you suggest a bad idea/project car, it encourages you and tells you why it’s a good idea to buy a non running Allroad that is resting on its inner fenders?

How about something that explored depreciation curves of various makes/models? Might be difficult to get the data, though. At least not without some data scraping, which could be a gray area.

This is definitely more complicated than what you are looking to do but its an app I at least want. Keeping to an oppo theme maybe a roadtrip app. Have a base function as a gps but with the ability to program multiple stops for rest/food/gas. Pair that with user input for points of interest or even scheduled car meets along your path . Other cool features c ould be a community tab for convoys with even GPS locations so people can see where everyone is if they get separated . If you package it in the right way it would be REALLY handy for rallies.

App that you can use to scan things as you add them to your cart at Costco/BJs/Sams Club so you don’t get the sticker shock heart attack at the register cashing out.

I always thought it would be cool to have a massively multiplayer top-down racing game that used Google Maps (or OpenStreetMap) as the base and actually dropped players in their actual physical location on the map, with a destination that was roughly equal in time for all players to reach (if they played perfectly). The game would match you with 1-? other players, and you’d all race to be the first to the spot. Actual speed limits would apply to some extent - you’d be able to have a higher top speed on highways than city streets. It’d use the gyro on your phone to control steering, accelerating would be automatic, but braking would be controlled by touching the screen. There’d be a “catch-up” algorithm to let those behind go a little faster, so make the finishes close and exciting. Each game would take less than 5 minutes (farther the “real” distance, faster the top speed - maybe have a 100-mile jump button for the long highway stretches?) for infinite replayability.
